My latest new video: How To Get A Flat Stomach Instantly

My latest one, hot off the press (featuring a guest appearance by Sci-Fi Gene's wife, Suzanne Westbury.)

May Be Side Effects (new edit) plus a few upcoming screenings

Though May Be Side Effects is an old video - by my standards, anyway! - this is a new version. (The main difference is that it's nearly a minute shorter.)

BTW, for the last several months I've tended not to post about  the various screenings where my films have been shown (mostly because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging), but on the off-chance anyone's interested, here are the details for a few coming up in the near-ish future:

28 February, 2012: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one" is being shown at CineMe, The Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 1TF.

29 February: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one" and "Reflection of Love" are being shown at the Smoke Yourself Slim Film Festival, The Winchester, Essex Road, London, N1 8LN.

1  March, 2012: "If Dolphins Had Day Jobs" is being shown at Kino London, Vibe Live, the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, E1.

8 March, 2012: "A Guide to Safe Dining" and "Dolphin in a Coma" are being shown at "Roots to Shoots" at the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.

15 March, 2012: The same double bill of "Dining" and "Dolphin" are being shown as part of the Anime 3 animation showcase, CineMe,  Bocabar, The Paintworks, Bath Road, Arnos Vale, Bristol BS34 3EH .

27 March, 2012: "Reflection of Love" is being shown at CineMe Bristol (these CineMe screenings apparently move around from venue to venue, so I don't know the address for this one yet).

4 April, 2012: "A Guide to Safe Dining" is being shown at the Movie Bar, the Caroline of Brunswick, Ditchling Road, Brighton.

If Dolphins Had Day Jobs

I am not becoming a Dolphin obsessive - honest! - it's just that I happened to have a lot of dolphin pictures left over from my last one.

BTW, this was made in just one day.

my latest video: "Dolphin in a Coma"

This one was made for a challenge in which I had to make a film in one week with the title: "Dolphin in a Coma," and was screened at Kino London on Thursday night as part of the London Short Film Festival.

BTW,  I did the voices of both Trixie and the off-screen newsboy. ;)

A Handy Way to Clear the Fridge After Christmas

My third - and probably final - handy tip for Christmas. ;)

BTW, the refrigerator interior in this video isn't entirely mine. My other half didn't want the world to see what a dirty fridge we have, so I covered the dirty bits over with some pictures of much cleaner refrigerator interiors I found on the internet . ;)

"A Guide to Safe Dining" blooper reel

In case it isn't obvious, I got a new special effects ap for Christmas... which I haven't stopped playing with since yesterday. ;)

A Handy Tip For Cooking Christmas Dinner

We've got a big Three Bird Roast for Christmas Dinner. It's been in the oven for hours and is still nowhere near cooked, so this is what I've been doing to kill some time while I'm waiting.

And yes, that really is our Christmas dinner in the video.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

latest film: "Laplander 2: The Last Santa"

I was given yet another challenge at the last Kino London screening, to make a film with whatever title they pulled from a hat. And the title the hat produced this time was: "The Last Santa."

So here it is, finished just in time for screening at Kino London tomorrow night (that's Thursday, the 1st of December).

my latest film: When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one

When Reflection of Love was shown at Kino London last month, they offered me a challenge which I naively accepted: to make a film with the title: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one."

This is it:

the film what I wrote (and directed, and edited) wins the "Golden Quickie" ;)

For those who haven't noticed my update of an earlier post (with an embedded link to The Dealer's Club), it was shown at the Quickflick London screening on the 8th of June, 2011, where it won the Golden Quickie award. (Which means I've won some free courses and stuff, plus The Dealer's Club will be shown at Quickflick screenings in other countries.)

another one what I wrote (and directed as well)

This wasn't made for a 48 hour challenge, but it might as well have been. It was shot on my phone in a few hours on Saturday the 7th of May, 2011, in a desperate bid to make the 9th of May deadline for submissions to QuickFlick London on the theme of "Dealer."

I spent all day Sunday editing it in Final Cut Pro (finally finishing it at eight o'clock this morning) and am once again completely exhausted and wondering why I always do these things in such a hurry. Anyway, here's my latest: written, directed and edited by someone who has absolutely no idea what they're doing.

I'm editing this on the 10th of June, 2011, to add that The Dealer's Club was shown at the Quickflick London screening on the 8th of June... where (guess what?) it won the top prize, The Golden Quickie!

"Corpus" by Oanis Rawbone

Some of you may remember that I posted a link to a short film called The Dirty Comet, which was written and directed by Oanis Rawbone. If you missed the original post, you can find it at:

Oanis has recently made another short film that I think is an absolute cracker. It's called Corpus, and it follows below:

"May Be Side Effects" (the latest film what I wrote)

I not only wrote this one, I directed it, too, so it's full of beginner's mistakes. (Which I have hopefully learned from. Such as: even though it was not made for a 48 hour challenge, I still felt it necessary to shoot the whole thing in a mad rush in just one day. What was I thinking?)

But the cast (other than me) was great, so my heartfelt thanks to Andy Vine, David Hing and Tammy Sander for their great work both on and off the screen; and also to Brandon Butterworth for doing the photography and all things techie, to Peter Mills for providing some great zombie sound effects, and to Alia Sheikh for the loan of some lighting equipment.

I've decided to forego the Hollywood red carpet premiere for now and take this one straight to youtube, but maybe next time. . . ;)

behind the scenes at the latest zombie film

My latest zombie film (what I wrote and directed) - May Be Side Effects - for which Tammy Sander and I both donned homemade fat suits, is almost done. I need to tweak a few things, but mostly I'm waiting for a couple of people to get some audio files to me.

In the meanwhile, you can see some behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot at:

BTW, I'm thinking of using this one as my new profile pic on Facebook. Or maybe this one

I'm editing this about forty-five minutes later. I've just remembered that the last time I referred to something "what I wrote" I got rather sternly corrected by an overseas acquaintance who was very concerned about my bad grammar. So for the benefit of anyone who doesn't live in the U.K., it's a Morecambe and Wise reference. ;)

Dead Things Walking

I may have mentioned in passing that I made another zombie film the other week. This isn't it - mine is still waiting to be edited - but Dead Things Walking is a lovely, funny little film that I first saw at the screening of 48 hour zombie film challenge (the one for which Last Zombie Standing was made) entries on the South Bank last Halloween.

The lady who stars in Dead Things Walking, Tammy Sander, also appears in my latest (the one that's still waiting to be edited) and Sci-Fi Gene's film Bast (the one for which I did a voice-over). Oh, what a tiny little world I live in.
