latest new animation: By This Time Tomorrow, You Could Be Dating A Clown

Just something short and silly. ;)

(If you've ever seen one of those late-night television ads for "Uniform Dating," it's a parody of one of those.)

latest new video: Local Earth News Update

I made this for a Kino London challenge for which I had to make a short film combining the following two elements:

1) The entire world wakes up one morning with squeaky voices,

and:

2) "Revenge of the Folksinger."

Topsy Turvy Xmas (my first-ever attempt at a music video!)

Hot off the press in time for Christmas comes my first attempt at a music video.

Topsy Turvy Xmas is written and performed by David Fisher and features a guest appearance by John Cooper Clarke.

I directed the video. (And edited it. And did the animation.)

And in case it isn't immediately obvious, all of the various elves/band members/Santas are played by David Fisher.

Hope you enjoy it.

another stab at animation: The Evil Table

I finished this yesterday, and then I had to go and lie down because - after nearly seven weeks of spending every waking moment on this thing! - I'm absolutely exhausted.

Anyway, I made The Evil Table for The Halloween Monster Movie Challenge 2012, for which I had the assigned line of dialogue: "Eat this, you foul vermin scum." The challenge is still going on - I actually finished my entry a couple of weeks before the final deadline (there's apparently still time to enter it yourself if you're so inclined) - so this one could hardly be more "hot off the press."

Hope you enjoy it. ;)

my latest stab at animation: Your Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

I post very rarely these days because making animations can pretty much eat up every waking moment.

This latest one took me a couple of months to make, and then it took me a few more weeks to put it on youtube because the instant I finished this one, I started working on another (for which I have an impending deadline - eek!) but here it is at long last:

BTW, the new animation I'm working on is for The Halloween Monster Movie Challenge 2012. I have to get my entry to them on DVD by Halloween, so my current plan is to finish the new one within the next couple of weeks, screen it at Kino London on the 23rd of October, and then - hopefully! - post it to youtube (and here) on either the 24th or 25th. And get the DVD in the snail mail post, obviously. ;)

Wish me luck!

my latest attempt at animation

I made this for the Quickflick World competition for three minute films on the theme of: "Heaven and Hell," which also had a technical parameter of - wait for it! - animation.

Though I didn't win (boo-hoo) I have been reliably informed that my entry came in: "a very close second." (Which basically means: I didn't win.)

But never mind, here it is:

My latest one, hot off the press (featuring a guest appearance by Sci-Fi Gene's wife, Suzanne Westbury.)

May Be Side Effects (new edit) plus a few upcoming screenings

Though May Be Side Effects is an old video - by my standards, anyway! - this is a new version. (The main difference is that it's nearly a minute shorter.)

BTW, for the last several months I've tended not to post about  the various screenings where my films have been shown (mostly because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging), but on the off-chance anyone's interested, here are the details for a few coming up in the near-ish future:

28 February, 2012: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one" is being shown at CineMe, The Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 1TF.

29 February: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one" and "Reflection of Love" are being shown at the Smoke Yourself Slim Film Festival, The Winchester, Essex Road, London, N1 8LN.

1  March, 2012: "If Dolphins Had Day Jobs" is being shown at Kino London, Vibe Live, the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, E1.

8 March, 2012: "A Guide to Safe Dining" and "Dolphin in a Coma" are being shown at "Roots to Shoots" at the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.

15 March, 2012: The same double bill of "Dining" and "Dolphin" are being shown as part of the Anime 3 animation showcase, CineMe,  Bocabar, The Paintworks, Bath Road, Arnos Vale, Bristol BS34 3EH .

27 March, 2012: "Reflection of Love" is being shown at CineMe Bristol (these CineMe screenings apparently move around from venue to venue, so I don't know the address for this one yet).

4 April, 2012: "A Guide to Safe Dining" is being shown at the Movie Bar, the Caroline of Brunswick, Ditchling Road, Brighton.

If Dolphins Had Day Jobs

I am not becoming a Dolphin obsessive - honest! - it's just that I happened to have a lot of dolphin pictures left over from my last one.

BTW, this was made in just one day.

my latest video: "Dolphin in a Coma"

This one was made for a challenge in which I had to make a film in one week with the title: "Dolphin in a Coma," and was screened at Kino London on Thursday night as part of the London Short Film Festival.

BTW,  I did the voices of both Trixie and the off-screen newsboy. ;)

A Handy Way to Clear the Fridge After Christmas

My third - and probably final - handy tip for Christmas. ;)

BTW, the refrigerator interior in this video isn't entirely mine. My other half didn't want the world to see what a dirty fridge we have, so I covered the dirty bits over with some pictures of much cleaner refrigerator interiors I found on the internet . ;)

"A Guide to Safe Dining" blooper reel

In case it isn't obvious, I got a new special effects ap for Christmas... which I haven't stopped playing with since yesterday. ;)

A Handy Tip For Cooking Christmas Dinner

We've got a big Three Bird Roast for Christmas Dinner. It's been in the oven for hours and is still nowhere near cooked, so this is what I've been doing to kill some time while I'm waiting.

And yes, that really is our Christmas dinner in the video.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

latest film: "Laplander 2: The Last Santa"

I was given yet another challenge at the last Kino London screening, to make a film with whatever title they pulled from a hat. And the title the hat produced this time was: "The Last Santa."

So here it is, finished just in time for screening at Kino London tomorrow night (that's Thursday, the 1st of December).

my latest film: When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one

When Reflection of Love was shown at Kino London last month, they offered me a challenge which I naively accepted: to make a film with the title: "When Tickling Goes Wrong, part one."

my second Golden Quickie Award Winner in a row

After winning the Golden Quickie Award at Quickflick London for best short film on the theme of Dealer, in a fit of hubris I decided to have another go, this time with an entry on the theme of Mirror. And guess what? I won again.

So here it is, my second Golden Quickie winner in a row. ;)

Eeek! I'm editing this a couple of minutes later as I posted this from Dreamwidth and on looking at livejournal, the embedding of the video has not survived the cross-posting at all. So here's the url where you can watch the video on youtube instead:
